When I started writing this piece... I couldn't write this piece. Really I've had no motivation and/or inspiration for composing since maybe November of last year (except in bursts here and there, usually with the piano pieces. That's why there's been a few of those in a row).
So when I started writing it, it sounded like complete crap. It was bad. Nothing sounded right. With a little help from my teacher, though, I began to slowly chip away at the bad parts.
Now, after four months of writing and deleting and rewriting and turning utter and complete garbage into something a little better, I have this: out of my mind.
The title is meant to be lowercase: the piece is very tightly based around a best-selling novel by Sharon M. Draper that I read last year called out of my mind. It's a book about a young girl with cerebral palsy-- essentially, she can't walk, she can't talk, and even though she's very highly intelligent, everyone thinks that she's stupid. The book's very good. I recommend it.
This piece, after months of effort, may not be my best composition ever, but in the end I'm still fairly proud of it.
Also-- it's a long one. Sorry.
