I'm happy to say that most of this piece was actually written away from the computer, on paper, straight from my head. I was at Interlochen when I wrote it, so I had limited resources. I tried to get away to the piano huts but most of the time I was denied access because I wasn't a piano major. So I got into a rhythm of writing down music without a piano and without the ability to hear it (I feel like Beethoven).
I would finish a page of score, put it up on the cabin wall, and start the next one. I had a good 2 minutes by the time I got home and could input it.
This band piece is hopefully considerably better than my previous one. I have more experience and a deeper understanding of writing for band. I'm proud. What else can I say?
